Joe Friel

Audit Manager

Having tired of long distance commuting, Joe seized the opportunity to join Williams Giles in 2000. He brought with him a substantial amount of experience built up over nearly a quarter of a century in the profession, having dealt with accounts, audit and tax work for organisations of all shapes and sizes, including companies, groups and charities.

Joe has developed an active role in assisting overseas entrepreneurs with accounting, management and other issues in their UK subsidiaries, and the relationships of those subsidiaries with their multinational groups. He handles accounts and audit matters for a wide range of our clients from small family companies to large groups, including charities: he is the manager in charge of the firm’s substantial portfolio of audits for Academy Schools. Joe is particularly involved in the technical side of company accounts, helping to ensure compliance with both the law and accounting standards. He says that, despite his advancing years, he still enjoys problem solving and the non-routine, sometimes even challenging, aspects of his work.

His degree is in history, and he retains an interest in this and all aspects of heritage. Joe is married with a grown up daughter.
